Step 1: Create a container
The first step is to create a container for the frog pond. You can choose to use a small plastic container or alternatively cut a cereal box and cover it in coloured paper. This will act as the base for the project. You will also need plastic frogs for the project. Jumping frogs are a great addition to this project as children will have great fun trying to get them to jump in and out of the pond.
Step 2: Design the Pond
You could choose to use a layer of green felt for the grass and then cut pond shapes out of different shades of blue felt. We also used a dark green felt to cut out shapes for water lily plants.
Step 3: Add textured elements from the garden
We found some twigs, stones, cones, and leaves to add textured elements around the pond. We also reused some branches from our Christmas tree to create some vibrant trees.
Step 4: Add frogs and time to play
The final step is to introduce the frogs to their new home. Plastic jumping frogs create lots of fun as the children can try to get the frogs to jump over the twigs and out of the pond!
