Materials: |
An outdoor table |
A bucket |
Containers to display the flowers |
A mug, water and a spoon |
Step 1 – Collect flowers and leaves
Under adult supervision, giving children a bucket is a simple and great way to enable them to explore their surroundings by allowing them to collect a selection of flowers and leaves.
Step 2 – Display the flowers
When the children have completed their nature trail, they will enjoy laying out the flowers that they have collected within containers. A good colour matching exercise is to ask the children to display their flowers by placing similar colours within the same container.
Step 3 – Experiment with perfume
A great way to enable children to explore the different aromas of flowers, under adult supervision, is to give them a mug filled with water and a spoon. They can choose different flower petals and mix them into the water to make their very own flower petal perfume.
