Step 1 – Prepare the materials
The first step is to collect some pine cones, there may be a nature walk in your locality where the children can run an collect pine cones in buckets. Later on you will require a selection of poster paints and paint brushes.
Step 2 – Paint the pine cones
The children can experiment using different colour paints, some colours will adhere to the pine cones better than others. They can also try out different designs such as painting a pine cone fully white, or just painting the tips of the pine cones in a bright colour.
Step 3 – Add glitter
Once a pine cone has been painted, sprinkling some glitter on the wet paint will add extra sparkle to your creations! Once the pine cones have been completed you can leave them out to dry.
Step 4 – Place the painted pine cones on display
The final step is to display your newly painted pine cones, they will make a lovely display within baskets or to add as decorations around the house.
