Masking Tape Painting Project

This masking tape painting project is so simple to set up and it is a great project for younger children, and the bonus is that it results in a beautiful work of art!

Project Details: Masking Tape Painting Project

Step 1: Stick strips of masking tape across paper

This step is so easy and younger children will love it. First you take a sheet of white paper which will become your painting. Then you simply tear off strips of masking tape and gently stick the tape across the paper in any design you like.

Step 2: Paint the entire paper

In this step, using the paint brushes, paint the entire page using any colours or patterns desired. Paint over the masking tape and try to cover the entire page with paint. Once the page has been completed you have leave it to dry.

Step 3 – Add some glitter

Sprinkle on a little glitter you make your artwork shine!

Step 4 – Peel off the masking tape

This step may be a bit tricky for children so it is best if an adult very carefully peels back the masking tape from the painting. As the tape is peeled off you will see the white of the page where the masking tape had previously been. This leaves a wonderful pattern of bright white stripes running through the painted page.

Step 5 – Display your work

This project results in beautiful artwork that you may choose to display within a frame or alternatively you can create a collage of your collaboration of artwork!
