Step 1 – Prepare the materials
You will need flash cards with numbers, we found a good selection of printable flashcards on www.activityvillage.co.uk. You will also need two writing boards, we simply laminated white A4 paper and used whiteboard markers for this.
Step 2 – Each player draws a ladybird on their writing board
The first step requires each player to draw a ladybird on their writing board, the ladybird must be large enough to enable the player to draw up to 10 or 20 dots on it.
Step 3 – Deal the cards
Deal 3 number cards to each player, place the number cards facing downwards.
Step 4 – Start the game
To start the game the dealer says “you may begin”, then each player will turn their number card up and must draw the corresponding number of dots on their ladybird. They will repeat this step for each number card.
Each player is then required to count the total number of dots and write the corresponding number down on their writing board.
If one player calculated the numbers incorrectly the other player wins, otherwise the player with the highest number wins! You can also chose to repeat the game to create several rounds and the first player to win three rounds wins the game.
