Step 1 – Gather the materials
You will need flash cards with numbers, we found a good selection of printable flashcards on www.activityvillage.co.uk. Shuffle the cards and place them in a deck on the table. You will also need a timer.
Step 2 – Play the game: Remove the highest number
To begin the game the player must first start the timer. They will then take two cards from the top pf the pile and lay them out beside each other. The player must then select the highest number from the two cards and place it out to the side.
The player will then take a new number card from the deck and place it beside the remaining card on the table. Again they must choose the highest card and pick the card up and place it to the side.
The player must repeat these steps until all cards from the original deck have been removed. When all cards are gone they must stop the timer and take note of their time.
Step 3 – Play the game: Remove the lowest number
The player can chose to play the lowest number game by following the instructions laid out in step 2 but each time, select to remove the card with the lowest number.
Step 4 – Repeat the game and challenge your personal best
This is a game of number recognition and speed so it is fun to repeat the game and challenge yourself to beat your personal best record.
