Step 1 – Cut off the crown of the pumpkin
Once you have your pumpkin, the first step is for an adult to use a sharp knife to cut off the crown of the pumpkin, the crown can then be easily removed and set aside to replace later on.
Step 2 – Clean out the inside of the pumpkin
This can be a messy task but children seem to love carrying out this step! They can use spoons to scrape around the edges of the pumpkin, then they can use their hands to pull out the seeds and fibers of the pumpkin.
Step 3 – Cut out the face of the pumpkin
Once the pumpkin has been cleaned out, the next step is for an adult to cut out the face of the pumpkin. Children will enjoy drawing the eyes, nose and mouth on the pumpkin using a pencil. An adult must then use a sharp knife to cut the face out of the pumpkin.
Step 4 – Place a light in the pumpkin
When the face has been cut out, the final step is to add a tea light to the pumpkin. LED lights are the best option for young children as they are safe and also give out a wonderful bright light.
