Project Details – Paper Glasses Craft Project
Step 1 – Prepare the materials
The first step is to prepare the materials. You can use the internet to choose a template for paper glasses, once you have selected the style you wish to create you can print the template. It is then helpful to cut strips of coloured cellophane to a size which is slightly bigger than then lens size of the glasses. This will make the task easier for younger children.
Step 2 – Cut out the paper glasses template
The next step is to cut-out the printed glasses template. You can then use this template to sketch a template on white card paper using a pencil and rubber. This step can be repeated multiple times depending on how many pairs of glasses you wish to make. Once this task has been completed you can cut-out the parts of the template including the front of the glasses and the temples.
Step 3 – Choose the coloured lenses
The next step is to choose the coloured lenses you wish to create. Children may choose a single colour, for example they may wish to experiment with viewing the world through red lenses. Alternatively, they may choose the fun aspect of making each lens a different colour. Another fun option is to create 3d glasses whereby you place a red lens over the left eye and a blue lens over the right eye.
Once the children have chosen their desired colours simply use a glue stick to attach the coloured lens to the back of the paper glass frame.
Step 4 – Assemble the glasses
The next step is to assemble the remainder of the glasses by attaching the temples. This can be achieved using craft glue or staples.
Step 5 – Test out the coloured glasses
The final step is the fun part of trying on the glasses and going around to explore the world through different coloured lenses, have fun!
