Step 1: Prepare the materials
This is an activity that is most suited to outdoors in good weather. You will need a basin with bubble mixture or washing up liquid, food colouring and plastic bubble wand tools to create bubbles.
Step 2: Change the colour of the bubble mixture
The first step is to fill a basin with bubble mixture and then experiment by adding drops of food colouring. You can experiment by mixing different colours to see if you can change the colour of the bubbles!
Step 3: Create bubbles
The next step is to begin making bubbles! Children will have lots of fun experimenting with different tools to make small bubbles, large bubbles and bubbles based on different shapes such as love hearts.
Step 4: Experiment with the wind
Children will love to explore bubble making with the help of the wind. Instead of blowing bubbles, children can run along the grass with their bubble making tool and hope the wind will create a bubble.
If you get a good gust of wind you will be surprised how big you can create your bubbles!
Step 5: Have bubble making competition
There are lots of fun ways to have bubble making competitions:
- One person blows bubbles and each participant gets a turn to see who can pop the most bubbles
- See who can create coloured bubbles
- See who can create the largest bubble
- See who can create the smallest bubble
- See who can get their bubble to float the highest in the sky
- Run alongside each other and compete to see who can create bubbles from the wind
These games are lots of fun for the whole family and don’t forget the adults will have great fun too!
