Project Details -Alphabet Soup Literacy Game
Step 1 – Set-up the game
The first step is to set up an alphabet soup box. All you need is a plastic container filled with dry pasta, then add in some letter magnets and mix them in around the pasta.
Step 2 – Play the alphabet soup game
Simply ask the child who is playing the game to close their eyes and reach in and pick a letter out of the alphabet soup box. When they have selected a letter they must place it on the whiteboard. Then they have to think of words starting with that letter and try to write the words on the board.
Step 3 – Explore the words
As you play the game have fun exploring the words; ask the children to describe what the word means to them and encourage them to draw pictures. Then the children can have fun by challenging the adults to play too!
