Step 1: Prepare the materials

You will need empty plastic bottles with lids, water bottles will work perfectly well. You will also need small craft items to place inside the bottles, examples include buttons, gems, pipe cleaners, feathers, and jewellery beads.

Step 2: Design the bottles

The next step is to place craft items inside the bottle. Children will love deciding which items to place in their own bottle. They will enjoy making their bottle unique and may wish to include items that reflect their own ideas, such as a letter to represent their name.

Step 3: Add glitter

Adding some glitter will make the bottle have an extra sparkly effect, especially when the bottle is turned upside down or shaken around.

Step 4: Pour water into the bottle

The next step is to fill the bottle with water and to secure the lid. You may wish to provide extra security to the lid by adding a strong tape around the next of the bottle.

Step 5: Time to play

The final step is to admire the completed bottles. Allowing light to shine through the bottle will highlight the beautiful colours through the craft items and give the bottle and extra shake to create that glittery effect!
