This is a really simple project to create an Amelia Earhart pilot cap which can be used to complete your costume if you are making an Amelia Earhart cardboard plane.

Project Details – Easy Pilot Cap Craft Project
Step 1 – Prepare the materials
To complete the Amelia Earhart pilot cap you will need a plain wool hat, some ribbon, a scissors, a needle and thread.
Step 2 – Cut the hat to form the shape of a pilot cap
In order to form the shape of a pilot cap from your hat, follow these simple steps:
- Turn the hat inside-out
- Cut horizontally across the inner seam
- Roll the inner layer of the hat to form an extra long hat consisting of one layer
- Cut a U-shape out of the bottom section of the hat
The shape of your pilot cap is now complete.
Step 3 – Sew a hem around the cap
The next step is to finish the edges of the hat by sewing a simple hem around the edges. Once this has been completed cut two pieces of ribbon and sew them onto either side. If you have hook and loop tape this can work well to enable children to open and close the ribbon strap underneath their chin.
Step 4 – Complete the cap with aviator goggles
Swimming goggles can act as aviator goggles to complete your pilot cap!
