Project Details – Halloween Lantern Project
Step 1 – Prepare the materials
The first step is to gather a selection of glass jars, remove the lids and wash them. You will also need coloured tissue paper cut into wide strips, craft glue and paint brushes. In order to create the faces on the jars, you can print and cut-out Halloween faces from the internet.
Step 2 – Glue the coloured tissue onto the glass jars
Using a paintbrush, cover the outside of each glass jar with craft glue, then simply place a strip of coloured tissue paper onto the glue and pat it down to adhere to the glass. Repeat this step using different colours of tissue paper until the glass jar has been complete covered. Then leave the glass jar aside to dry.
Step 3 – Add the Halloween faces
An adult may need to assist to cut out the printed Halloween faces. Once they have been separately cut out, glue a different face onto each jar and leave the jar aside to dry.
Step 4 – Light candles within the jars
This step must be carried out by an adult: first place the jars in a safe location, then an adult can light a tealight candle within each jar. Watch the children’s excitement as their very own Halloween lanterns glow in the dark and create a truly spooky Halloween atmosphere!
